Each April, the Family Resource Center proudly joins with community partners to raise awareness for Child Abuse Prevention Month, encouraging everyone to wear blue—the national color of prevention—as a visible sign of support for children and families. Throughout the month, you’ll find our Pinwheel Garden, generously sponsored once again by Atrium Health Floyd/Harbin Clinic, displayed in front of their building as a symbol of the happy, healthy childhoods we want for every child.

A flurry of events takes place April 13–14, including our participation in Building Community Day at Restoration Rome, CAP Month Proclamations at both City and County Halls, and the Rome Floyd Commission on Children and Youth’s “Are You Smarter Than a 3rd Grader?” event at City Auditorium. On April 24, we’ll gather with the Exchange Club of Rome for our CAP Month Celebration, featuring inspiring stories from program graduates and an opportunity to thank our community for their continued support. That same day, we encourage the community to also support the Sexual Assault Center of Rome’s Survivor Walk downtown at noon, standing together for prevention, awareness, and healing.
